60 years ago came out the first copies from the Transporters production line of the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg. 160,000 units and 6 years later, the production moved in the first generation VW’s Transporter factory in Hannover.

Volkswagen Transporter T2 was developed from a sketch created by Ben Pon, Volkswagen importer in the Netherlands. He drew a sketch of his transporter in 1947 in a block-notes and convinced then the Director of Volkswagen, Heinrich Nordhoff, to implement his idea into production. Volkswagen Transporter T2 was built on a platform inspiration from his VW Beetle T1, with significant modifications to adapt the large payload capacity and a new body.

And Now the germans are celebrating 60 years ( 6 Decades ) since the Volkswagen Transporters made their debut, and it is now considered one of the most reliable vans in history. The German company will continue to produce the model as long as it is appreciated and wanted on the market, offering, as the times passes, more powerful engines and better interior conditions, along with the great outer design that Volkswagen is used to accomplish.
